QVC November 7th Bare Escentuals TSV - Beautiful in Pearls

Every November Bare Escentuals has a QVC TSV with the option of Auto Delivery for roughly $46. This years installment is a collaboration with Honora. All of the items (besides the mascara and new eye liner) are infused with pearl powder (maybe the left overs from drilling holes in pearls!), a Honora necklace inspired by this kit became the TSV extra as well as matching bracelets. There will be a Honora TSV later this month that will have the matching earings and Beautiful in Pearls Body Minerals as their TSV extra (you can see more on that from, Becky, another BE devotee!) I can't wait for the body minerals. I've never owned body minerals and these look worth owning!

Onto the pictures!

I didn't use the mascara (BE Flawless Definition in Espresso)
and I used Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Espresso (
other alternatives are BE Bark or Root)

I used the top right color on my lid, bottom right in the crease/V/blended
halfway over lid, bottom left color used to deep the crease/V and the
top left color to highlight on brow and inner lid. These were really
nice and no fall out! The lipstick lasts quite a while and
applying it with a lip brush really helps you to choose how much
or how little color you want.

Ordered a new camera....

Go figure, finally post about downtime and I got the green light to get a new camera! I ordered a Canon Powershot SD780 IS in 'deep red' with a Joby gorrillapod (tripod). I love Canon's (the last one lasted 5 years with no problems) and I've always liked the manual settings as well as picture quality for the price. This one was $210 from amazon.com and what really made me want this was it has HD quality video capability. I've heard mixed reviews but the rest of the camera is so nice that it may not matter. We do have a very consumer camera that I think will do the trick since I'm going to dive into trying to make makeup videos. There are a few less manual settings but I don't think I ever needed the ones that aren't included anymore. I just need a point and shoot camera right now until I'm ready to take the plunge into the DSLR world.

So some updates. We still haven't gotten a house, you can read more about that on my DH's blog, The Slow Lane, and musings about why the first time home buyer tax credit is part of our problem. We've taken a break from it all in hopes to recover mentally from all this and there just aren't any more good homes available.

In make up news Sephora Friends and Family sale is well under way and is expiring at Midnight PST on November 2nd. The code if FF2009 and applies to anything in stock. A frequently asked question about the sale is if you can go in stores. Yes and No. Some stores have been nice enough to honor the discount but they are few and far between. The event is intended, as all F&F events, for the friends and family of the employees. There were rumors that VIBs would get a special email but it never came to fruition (booo!). I did make an order for staples like Living Proof spray, Klorane dry shampoo, Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition Mascara and a new $OPI Absinthe Makes the Heart nail polish. I also wanted to try 2 primers (Cargo HD & Laura Mercier Mineral Primer (liquid)) Cargo is going back and Laura Mercier may as well. They are average at best and for the price, it isnt' worth keeping. I also, FINALLY, got my hands on the Lowe's Holiday Storage Chest!! In previous years, Lowe's offered a wooden, felt lined tool box around the holidays. I couldn't get a hold of one in '07 and they weren't made in '08 so I thought I'd never own one.

This year they decided to make them again!! I have to make a seperate post about that with proper pictures but I think any person who is into make up would love it as it is great looking and holds a ton!

Lets see.. last Saturday was the first Nails Night Out in New York City. It started very late and was a bit disorganized but for a first attempt, it was BRILLIANT. I went with a fellow blogger (mayaari)and we met a lot of great girls, swapped polish, ate, drank and got an amazing goodie bag! Argh, another reason why I miss my camera! I've been keeping the goodie bag together and not putting it away so I can someday take pictures!

The holiday season is quickly coming and that means some of the best make up! Bare Escentuals has a TSV that is crosspromting with Honora - the details are sketchy but there is jewelry involved for sure! I hope Paul will forgive me on this one. I really wanted to order the TSV before the show but since details aren't for certain on what will be released when, I wanted to wait so maybe I could make one order to keep the cost of shipping down (QVC is such a ripoff and wasteful in their shipping practices - I only order their exclusives when absolutely necessary.) The TSV is November 7th at midnight.

It has been a while since I've blogged and it is simply because the 5 year old canon has died. Due to budget constraints, we haven't been able to purchase a new camera. Go figure, I finally decide to start blogging and my camera dies. Hopefully some of the new ones I've been scoping out will be even better and maybe I'll even get to do a video! Stay tuned.. Bare Escentuals Glee variations

Glee is an all-over face color (meaning you really can use any way you want - blush, dip in balm for lip color and eye color) and has a few spin offs; Soft Focus Glee which gives much less color and now Glee Radiance (glittery and much lighter/pinker) Glee radiance works well with either previous versions as a highlighter!

Bare Escentuals "Happiness" take 2

The only thing different here is I used my favorite MAC item, Lemon Chiffon shade stick, and wet lined the eye liner! I also added glee (original) on my cheek bones, glee radiance to highlight and faux tan to contour. It is very cloudy today but the liner really shows true!! I used Laura Mercier eye basic in linen which made my eye a bit too crepey so all my lines are showing. Oh well, whatever. Enjoy!

Sorry for the disappearance! Husband and I have been trying to buy a house over the last few weeks and I've just been too busy to make a blog post. Zoya Ali, Konad fun & preview of Bare Escentuals Black Diamonds

I've been incredibly busy but hope to catch up on blogging. I have a ton of photos ready to be uploaded about Zoya nail polish but I thought I'd start with the fun one first!

I got a Konad system a few weeks ago since they were discounted (please see my wowsocool.com post) and I did a really fun paint splatter manicure that PG (my husband) thought looked like a Jackson Pollock painting. I used Zoya Ali (a neon pink) for my base and Konad Special polishes in white, yellow, green, orange and blue pearl with plate M21.

This is a Sephora Exclusive kit released in May '09 that is selling now for $39 (originally sold for $49)

High Shine Sand Dune is worth it alone to purchase this kit (ebay pricing of this color alone makes it worth while). It was so very dreary here today so it doesn't capture how amazing the color is. Some have said it is like Mac Solar Bits but without the bits of fall out! I hope BE makes more colors like these.

Coraline & Hawaiian Konadicure

I got some Konad supplies from ocnailart.com (which currently matches other konad distributor discounts such as the one I mentioned yesterday from wowsocool) I picked up the Coraline #1 Kit and 3 plates (hawaiian theme m29, halloween m13 and christmas m12)

I've read a lot of problems about the image not picking up from the stamper so as suggested I cleaned the plates and stamper with acetone before use. I had no problems so far besides learning to line up the images. The best reference is from The Nailphile! Please read it here

I finally started my own little spot on the web. My husband, friends and online buddies have said for years I should have a blog or be on youtube so here I will start. This will be my spot for make up, nail polish and a lot of beauty related things along with random stuff like technology and cars (my original hobbies). I'll be making my own background and tweaking the look quite a lot but I wanted to start somewhere. Sit back and I hope you enjoy!
